20 years of successful dryingIn September 1991 Roland Harter founded the enterprise „Harter Oberflächen- und Umwelttechnik GmbH“. His initial idea of drying industrial sludges as a waste product advanced rapidly. The specially developed sludge drying plants produced great interest on the market. Few years later the Harter team started to develop this drying system further to optimize it for the operation in manufacturing processes. So the track record went on. More than 700 drying plants have meanwhile been placed worldwide. Today Harter continues to expand. Last year the new drying system AIRGENEX®med was introduced for pharmaceutical and medical device production. Over the years the company grew more and more. In 2001 Harter employing about 30 staff members moved to the present premises in Stiefenhofen. Today the enterprise is led by Reinhold Specht, co-owner and managing director in cooperation with Ursula Harter. Reinhold Specht is the brother-in-law of Roland Harter who died in 1998. |

Stainless continuous dryingA renowned Southern German enterprise which is supplier of the electronics and automotive industries as well as manufacturer of medical technology, had a long-lasting request of realizing a stainless drying quality in its manufacturing process. When processing armatures for magnetic valves an anticorrosive treatment is carried out. The drying process following should not leave any points of impact or any stains. Harter realized these requests by means of a condensation drying plant Airgenex® 4000. The drying process is now operated at a temperature of only 40°C. In a short drying period of approx. 3.5 minutes the goods are dried completely and free of stains. With a power input of only 4 kW an energy-saving solution. |

Pay it safeLong drying cycles, high use of energy and low drying quality were completely dissatisfactory for CES, a renowned German enterprise and Germany´s eldest cylinder lock factory. The manufacturer decided to retrofit his existing drying plant with an Airgenex® condensation drying module. Thus the drying period could be reduced by approximately 50% from two cycle times to one. Futhermore the consumption of energy was decreased by 75% in comparison to conventional heat dryers. Due to the low temperatures used for drying, the goods leave the dryer today without any spots and stains. Higher quality in a shorter period of time using less money – an all around successful endeavour. |

Converting a paint shop to waterborne paintA contract painting company needed a suitable drying system to allow it to change over to using a waterborne paint. The dehumidification unit and drying tunnel that it selected enable the paint to be dried very rapidly. The low-temperature process also means that no cooling zone is needed. Paint drying.pdf

energy-saving drying plants in the pharmaceutic industryIn 2009 with their innovative drying technology Harter accomplished to gain a foothold in a new branch. By employment of the individually adapted Airgenex® drying system pharmaceutical products are now dried completely and in a shorter period of time than before. As requested the products are also cooled down. The drying temperature is adjusted appropriately so that unwanted product heating can be avoided. As Airgenex® utilizes available waste heat, energy consumption and thus operating costs can be reduced. |

Harter wins galvanic awardFor innovative and ecological achievements in the field of plant engineering and construction Harter was awarded with the newly introduced galvanic prize of the DGO group Saxo-Thuringia (German association of electroplating and surface treatment). The award ceremony took place on the occasion of the 17th professional seminar in Leipzig where the winners also presented themselves with their special topic. Apart from a goblet and a record Harter obtained a bonus for the next exhibition. A detailed review will follow in the German magazine “Galvanotechnik”. |

efficient drying of hopSo as to retrofit the existing drying plant at Hirschberger, a local hop-grower in Saxony-Anhalt, Harter designed and realized a concept of energy recovery. Before retrofitting the dryer the owner needed 24.91 litres of oil per centner hop for his blower. By optimizing his process the consumption of oil could be reduced to 16.62 litres per centner of hop. This means a saving of 8.29 litres of oil and 33% respectively. To the great satisfaction of the customer. |
